Granted Patent Right

It is reported that recently a set of playing cards with traffic sign, has been granted patent right after the examination by the SIPO. The playing card possesses novelty and unique design. It is designed by Cui Xuewen of the traffic department of Xiangfen Police Station. There are totally 108 cards. The main colors are red, yellow and blue-black. The caution sign is red, the warn sign is yellow and the indication sign is blue-black. The jokers consist of car designs. People can learn knowledge about traffic safety in playing the cards and can also buildup their legal concept and consciousness in entertainment, such that the traffic accidents can be prevented and decreased.

Haire Decreases the Number of

Ordinary Patent Application

In 2005, Haire Group files 2.8 patent applications every day in average. While this year, there is only one application each day. In fact the decrease in patent application number indicates the strategic change of Haire Group in patent application.

“We do not pursue the number of patent application blindly. Instead, we pursue the competitiveness of the patent. We have decreased the number of ordinary patent application since last yeas and strengthened the patent application for invention.” says Ji Guangqiang, the secretary of the department of propaganda of Haire Group.

Until the end of last year, the number of patent application by Haire Group totaled 6189, among which 720 were filed in the last year. In 2005, Haire developed 450 new products which meet the global market. In average, 1.8 new products are developed each day.

The constant development of patent for invention and new products strengthened the innovative ability of Haire Group and also put forward the implementing of their overseas strategy. In 2005, the global turnover of Haire Group was 103.9 billion, among which the amount of export of Haire brand and overseas production and overseas sale is USD2.8 billion, which increased 40% compared with that of the same period of last year.

Paltalk Sued Xbox of Microsoft to Texas Court for Patent Infringement

This week, Microsoft faces again a lawsuit in Texas. The plaintiff claims in the petition submitted to Texas court that the online communication system used in the Xbox internet game of Microsoft infringes their patent right.

It is also reported in the website of Theinquirer that Paltalk Holdings company in Delaware claims that the online communication system used in the Xbox internet game of Microsoft infringes their patent right of No. 5,822,523 patent.

In order to enable the players in different places see the scene with the same time and space, the on line multi-role game system usually faces many technical problems. While Paltalk Holdings company claims that Microsoft infringed their patent titled “Inter-Application Server Cluster Information”. Paltalk Holdings company asks for compensation for the infringement act of Microsoft and also requests the court to give Microsoft corresponding punishment.

Zhuhai Actions Sued SigmaTel for Patent Infringement

Zhuhai Actions declared on Wednesday (September 13) that they have sued SigmaTel and its subsidiaries in China to impel SigmaTel to stop their infringement act.

Zhuhai Actions submitted litigation to Shenzhen intermediate people’s court, accusing that the products STMP 3502, 3503, 3506, 3510 and 3520 of SigmaTel company infringed its patent of digital audio processing technique. Zhuhai Actions requests the court to prohibit the design, production, sale and use of the infringing integrate circuit and the device with the infringing integrate circuit of SigmaTel, so as to stop the infringement act of SigmaTel in China. Zhuhai Actions requires SigmaTel to adopt remedial measures, stop infringing the intellectual property right of Zhuhai Actions and compensate for its infringement act. Zhuhai Actions asks for USD12.5 million as compensation for their loss.

In addition, Zhuhai Actions is considering requesting the court and other relevant departments to authorize and execute a series of bans. The bans will be implemented by the Chinese Custom to prevent the import and export of products and devices with the infringing chip of SigmaTel.

With regard to the case, the CEO of Zhuhai Actions Ye Nanhong claims: ”We determine to adopt necessary measures to protect the interests of our clients and our intellectual property right.”

Huangpu Custom Confiscated Nearly 20,000 Infringing Electronic Products

It is reported by Xinhua News Agency on September 24 that recently Huangpu custom confiscated nearly 20,000 infringing electronic products such as USB disc, camera, CD writer and Bluetooth adapter etc. in an export container. The custom confiscated them and carried out further investigation.

A certain company in Shenzhen declared the export of goods in a container with size of 20 feet. The declared goods are earphone, mouse, key board, protective barrier and notepad bag.  After analysis, the landing-waiters thought that the declared goods has low value and its volume is small, it is not necessary to use so big container. They concluded that there might be some other goods in the container, so they inspected it.

After inspection, they found that at the side which is near the door of the container, there were declared goods such as earphone, mouse and keyboard etc. with different size and packaging, which are scatteredly piled up. While behind these goods, they found 15 kinds of, nearly 20,000 Hi-tech electronic products such as camera, USB disc, CD writer, disk, Bluetooth adapter and USB memory adapter etc., which are not declared to the custom. After confirmation, the goods are counterfeit products. According to the relevant provisions of Intellectual Property Protection Law of the Peoples Republic of China, Huangpu custom confiscated the goods and began to investigate the case further.
