Valid Registered Trademarks in China Breaking through 10 million for the First Time

As learned from the State Administration of Industry and Commerce of China (SAIC), as of October 7, 2015, China’s amount of valid registered trademarks has reached 10,040,000 cases, breaking through the benchmark of 10 million for the first time.

Relevant officials from SAIC remarked that: with the nationwide implementation of commercial system reform in China, the amount of market entities increased substantially, and enterprises’ vigor for independent innovation also enhanced unceasingly. Foundation of a large number of new enterprises created more job opportunities, hedged the pressure of economic downturn, and contributed to the sharp increase of applications for trademark registration. In the first nine months of 2015, applications for trademark registration reached the amount of 2,115,000, increasing 36.62% from the same period of the last year.

As of September 2015, China’s total amount of applications for trademark registration is 17,641,700, and the total amount of registered trademark is 11,762,900, ranking as No. 1 of the world for thirteen consecutive years.
