According to the agreement of launching a comprehensive IP5 Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) pilot program as of January 2014, which was reached by the European Patent Office (EPO), the Japan Patent Office (JPO), the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China (SIPO) and the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in September 2013 in Geneva, Switzerland, IP5 PPH Pilot Program would be launched on January 6, 2014 and terminated on January 5, 2017, with a duration of three years.

Within the duration of the agreement, applicants may file PPH requests to SIPO in accordance with Procedures of PPH Applications with SIPO under IP5 PPH Pilot Program, or to EPO, JPO, KIPO or USPTO in accordance with their specific requirements and procedures.
